scared to be proud
About yesterday's class
Youtube is my life. But talking about it makes me nervous. I don't like mentioning it when I talk to new people. I feel like they treat me differently after they know about it because It evokes many really different thoughts, opinions and prejudices. Some people don't like me afterwards without knowing me properly, some people start treating me as a celebrity and consider me perfect even if they don't know me properly and some people are neutral to it. I am proud of what I do, but at the same time I try to hide it. However I should learn to be okay with advertising myself.
Today in class we talked about youtube and the teacher asked me if it would be ok for me to talk and answer questions about how it feels to make youtube as a side job. As I said earlier in this post, I don't like mentioning it, but now I felt like I could actually bring out my point of view. (I was so nervous that I was still shaking for an hour after talking). But even though I couldn't get the words out of my mouth, it went well. Everyone was really friendly, thank you for your comments and question(s).
The teacher gave me the idea of blogging about my videos and the process of making them. Videos are my whole life, and yes I have a lot to talk about. I just didn't dare to bring it up before.
Sorry for english speakers, my videos are all in finnish.

I've never had the amount of followers you do but I honestly yeah...When you hear someone is a Youtuber people have their own opinions on it beforehand.
ReplyDeleteYour talk about it was very interesting! It was nice to hear about it, and I think most people were just generally curious and happy to hear as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your presentation to our class was a positive experience! I can definitely imagine the different prejudices and bias people might have towards different social media professions, youtubers especially. I hope that'll change eventually since being a social media professional honestly should be regarded as a serious profession, and being one shouldn't affect how people see you as a person.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, you're doing amazing so keep at it!! ♥
